Volunteers for Meets
Our swim team is completely run by volunteers. In order for swim meets to start on time and run efficiently all volunteer spots must be filled. We are asking for each parent to serve at the home meets for at least one half of the meets and for each family to bring two items for the concession stand.
There are so many different ways to volunteer--before, during, or after a meet or all 3! Everyone can find a slot that they will enjoy. Thank you in advance for signing up to help out at each meet. We cannot have a successful season without you!
If you need to cancel a volunteer shift that you signed up for please find someone to fill the spot. If you are not able to find someone let one of the Team Reps know.
Below are explanations for each volunteer role.
Volunteer Roles
Meet Set-Up: Set up for the meet prior to swimmer arrival. Must arrive one hour before swimmers.
Concession Stand: (Home meets only) Help set up stand, sell food and drinks, replenish items as needed, and clean up at the end of the meet. You can choose to help either the 1st half or the 2nd half of the meet.
Snow Cone Machine: (Home meet only) Make snow cones for concessions.
Event/Heat Flipper: (Home meets only) Flip the score board for the current event and heat. Must pay close attention and stay in contact with the starter. Choose either 1st or 2nd half of meets. Front row seating for home meets!
Runner: (Home meets only) Run timer sheets/DQ slips to scorekeeper. Choose either 1st or 2nd half.
Timers: (All meets) Time or record each event/heat in their lane. Must attend timers' meeting for instructions. You can choose to time either the 1st half or 2nd half of the meet. You must attend a brief meeting before the meet. This is the BEST view of your swimmer!
Alternate Timers need to be ready to take over for a timer or fill in if we are short on timers.
Ready Bench: (All meets) Gather swimmers and line them up in the correct order for events on the ready bench. This position gives you a chance to get to know a lot of the swimmers. Choose either 1st or 2nd half.
Meet Clean-Up: Clean up and put away all items-event/heat stands, flags, ready bench. Clean up trash and put pool furniture back in it's original place. We want the area to look like it did before the meet. We would appreciate everyone taking a bag of trash as you leave so we don't leave all the trash cans full.
